About Gunny
Understanding Gunny in 30 Seconds or Less
Since childhood I’ve wondered: how come we have all this complexity & nuance & emotion inside, but when we interact with other people we adopt a persona that mostly hides all that?
I’ve been trying to work out that gap ever since. I’ve explored it in my social life, trying to create unusual relationships that encourage emotional complexity. I’ve explored it professionally, trying to create advertising capable of talking with people on a deeper level. I’ve also explored it in a series of personal art projects (“social experiments” sounds too creepy) that are the main content of this blog.
The rest is just details.
Bio
Aside from these little personal projects, which tend to start strong and then die out as I get bored, I do a few other things.
I’m a Strategy Director at Tenthwave, a digital agency in New York City that helps some of the world’s largest brands decide how to communicate. We do strategic/digital/social/promotions work for clients such as eBay, Facebook, Google, VSP Vision Care, Holland’s Tourism Bureau, Campbell’s Soup, Pepperidge Farm (Goldfish & Milanos), and Alford & Hoff. Before this, I worked on Wall Street for 3 years as head of marketing & client relations for The Abernathy Group. Before that, I was managing director of Allentium, a digital agency with accounts including The Trump Organization, supermodel Eva Herzigova, The White House, Congressional Leadership of both parties, tons of luxury real estate clients, and hedge funds managing approximately $1B in assets.
My loves include Brooklyn, bourbon, buddhism, boxing & MMA, beautiful things, and two wonderful parents living near Philadelphia.
